Weight Loss Surgery is for PUSSIES

This is probably going to piss some people off, but I don’t care.  This is my site and I’m expressing my thoughts & opinions.

This isn’t new; gastric bypass & other surgeries to lose weight have been around for a long time, but it seems they’ve been even more predominant these days with “Slimband” commercial, etc etc.

I’m going to cut to the chase & tell you exactly how I feel about these & why:  Any kind of surgery to lose weight is for people that don’t want to take responsibility for their own actions, are lazy, and ignorant.  There, it’s out.  Now here’s why;

  1. Why risk your life under the knife when it can be done with a little effort & education.  2% of gastric surgery people die within a month of the surgery, even more run into complications;
  2. You got fat for a reason.  You’re not going to learn anything about your eating habits, etc that put you in that position to begin with so it’ll only be a matter of time before your fat again;
  3. You won’t get the sense of accomplishment losing weight with surgery as you would doing it the RIGHT way because gastric surgery is CHEATING;
  4. A lot of the weight you lose with gastric surgery is lean mass(muscle, bone density, etc.) because you’re not getting all the proper nutrition.  This is bad & will only compound your problems later;

Bottom line is this;  Be accountable to yourself.  You got fat for a reason; man up, get educated, start walking and do it the right way.  Is it easy?  HELL NO!  But the sense of accomplishment you get when the weight starts coming off is simply awesome.  Not to mention there are so many programs & websites on there to help & support, there’s simply no excuse not to be able to do it.

DON’T BE A LAZY CHEATER!

Weigh-In: May 13, 2010

This weeks numbers:

Weight: 189.8 lbs (Down -1.6 lbs from last week)
Body Fat: 18.5% (Down -1.4% from last week)
LBM: 154.7 lbs (Up 1.4 lbs from last week)

Obviously last weeks weigh-in was an anomaly given how much I dropped this week, but my eating was far from perfect.  But I’ll take it regardless. :)

Weigh-In: April 29, 2010

This weeks numbers:

Weight: 191.2 lbs (Down -2.0 lbs from last week)
Body Fat: 19.1% (Down -0.6% from last week)
LBM: 154.7 lbs (Down -0.4 lbs from last week)

Well, after no change last week, this week dropped a whopping 2 lbs.  I’m happy with that considering my training has suffered this past week because of time constraints & stress of a major decision.  I’ll just keep doing what I’m doing as it seems to still be working.  The machine is well oiled!

Weigh-In: April 22, 2010

This weeks numbers:

Weight: 193.2 lbs (No change from last week)
Body Fat: 19.7% (Up 0.1% from last week)
LBM: 155.1 lbs (down -0.2 lbs from last week)

Well, it was bound to happen at one point.  No change this week.  I guess I ate more than I thought over the weekend.  But that’s OK. :)

Not to mention my scale is screwed.  This started last week were it doesn’t want to “lock in” a weight…it just keeps bouncing around 1-2 lbs, and sometimes 3-4 consecutive tries yields 3-4 different weights by 2-3 lbs.  I ordered a nice OMROM HBF-510W with the full body fat scanning.  I should get it by this weekend.  Then, at the next official weigh in next week, I’ll weigh on both scales to try and see if I can get some kind of correlation.
